Latest News from The Secure-store

The Secure-store has now introduced a new concept - 'value rooms'. These rooms are very much like any other but may have an odd shape, a pipe or iron girder in the corner (the size of which is already deducted from the room size), or up some extra steps. For this inconvenience we discount 10% off our already very competitive prices and you probably will see no difference other than to your pocket. Some of the odd shaped rooms also provide extra square footage too, as we do not count 'nooks and crannies' when measuring room sizes.

Sponsoring Local Talent

The Secure-store is pleased to report that it is sponsoring a young sports talent in the Herts, Beds & Bucks area.

Matthew Masters is a 15 year old swimmer of enormous promise. Youth swimmers are banded by age group until they hit the age of 18 but results vary enormously as young people mature at different rates and bodies adjust to 'growth spurts'. It is not uncommon for mature youths to power ahead in the early teens winning everything in sight but fall back dramatically as their peers mature and catch them up. Matthew is however very normal. So his progress at this stage is very encouraging.

Matthew is ranked in the UK top ten for 100 & 200m Freestyle and 100 & 200m Backstroke, he is also ranked 1st in the County for 12 events out of a possible 16. In the most recent National trials at Ponds Forge, Sheffield in July 2009 he finished 13th in the overall points competition, but remember that is all swimmers of all ages, male and female.
In the South East regional trials at Crawley in June 2009 Matthew finished 2nd overall, winning 4 Gold’s, 3 Silvers & 1 Bronze. In the Oxon & N Bucks county Championships held last March he also won 12 Gold’s & 3 Silvers and was actually 1st in the overall points competition. He is a member of the county squad and South East regional Talent squad. owever his main concern is achieving National Qualifying Times, that is achieving a set time for a given race which allows that swimmer to swim in the Nationals competition.
So why sponsor Matthew in particular? Not just because of his obvious talent but because he works so hard as well. Swimming is not a sport in which natural talent will get you very far. All serious swimmers work hard. Matthew attends 8-9 sessions a week, or 18 hours training. That is usually some 45,000 metres (roughly 28 miles). He started at Leighton - Linslade Crusaders swimming club but now swims at the City of Milton Keynes Swimming Club, one of the top 5 clubs in the country.

Matthew is a modest lad but was quick to ask that we mentioned his coach Greg Buck and the support of his parents, Jayne & Peter Masters.
The Secure-store is pleased to support Matthew and we all hope he will continue to do well.
